The new debate is between the factions of would-be destroyers of the Old Vilna Jewish Cemetery, where thousands lie buried:

• 1: Petition for ‘convention center in the cemetery’ by 53 elites on fate of Old Vilna Jewish Cemetery

• 2: President of Lithuania convenes conference where ‘the museum option‘ is declared

• 3: The ‘convention-centerists’ rapidly protest

• 4: Rabbi Elchonon Baron protests on Yom HaShoah calling for restoration of the Old Vilna Jewish Cemetery. As did Vilnius resident rabbi for 32 years, Rabbi Sholom Ber Krinsky, celebrating Lithuania’s Independence Day.

• 5: Eminent Vilnius journalist Arvydas Jockus (Alfa.lt) is the first to provide Lithuanian readers both sides of the debate.

• 6: In late April 2026, Lithuanian translations of Rabbi Krinsky’s statement begin to appear in local media.

• 7:  Vilius Kavaliauskas’s group again obtains premises of National Academy of Sciences (!) for planned May 18th 2026 concert to celebrate the new conference center that would be surrounded by thousands of Jewish graves on all side.
