VILNIUS—After hearing repeated reports of visitors to Lithuania being unable to visit the remnants of the Jewish partisan fort that is Lithuania’s last vestige of Jewish anti-Nazi partisan resistance, we asked our correspondent to visit the site. They were able on 27 October to make it only as far as the boom barrier and an array of signs prohibiting further passage along the road leading to the fort, where the Vilna Partisans, having escaped the Nazi genocide, fought the Nazis from their forest base right here. It now abuts the massive new German megafort known as Panzerbrigade 45. The following are the photos filed, with provisional English translations accompanying each.

Note that none of the signage contains any mention of the existence of the Jewish partisan fort a little way down the road. Nor has Germany’s Panzerbrigade 45 yet mustered the courage to mention, in all its vast publicity, the fort’s existence next door to its new megabase in the Rūdninkai Forest. More links and updates on p. 1 and in Defending History’s section on the fort.
