SUNDAY 11 MARCH: Celebrating Lithuania’s independence and success and also, as each year, monitoring the neo-Nazi march for which the center of Vilnius is gifted (on this of all days). See our eyewitness report.


WEDNESDAY 14 MARCH: Official Jewish Community invites all to unveiling of plaque honoring Jewish partisan hero and poet Abba Kovnerat 13:00 (1 PM) at Pylimo 4, Vilnius. The event features Ms. Faina Kukliansky, Ms. Fania Brantsovsky, and Prof. Pinchos Fridberg.


THURSDAY 15 MARCH: Judaica Research Center invites all to the lecture “When Yiddish was Young: The Last Generation” by Professor Justin Cammy (Smith College, USA), at 17:30 (5:30 PM) at the Martynas Mažvydas Lithuanian National Library, Gedimino Boulevard 51 (room 305).


FRIDAY 16 MARCH: Annual march in central Riga glorifying the country’s World War II Waffen  SS. DH reports on previous years.  DH recommends Monica Lowenberg’s annual record and international petitionNEW: Scott Taylor in Canada’s Chronicle Herald.  UPDATE: Latvian authorities authorize pro-Nazi marches, forbid protesters from appearing in view of the events they are protesting…
